Worship & Parish Life
The Holy Eucharist is celebrated at Christ Church at 8:00 and 10:00AM every Sunday. The eight o’clock service is celebrated without music and healing prayer is offered. At the ten o’clock service, there is an organist and choir, hymns are sung and children serve as acolytes in the spring, winter and fall.

A Healing prayer is offered, once a month, by trained parishioners after the Eucharist at the ten o’clock service. Five of our members are licensed by the Diocese as Eucharistic Visitors and Chalice Bearers and six of our members are trained as Eucharistic Ministers. We have an active altar guild of twelve members who work in pairs on a monthly basis to maintain the altar, fair linens, candles and sanctuary light. The altar guild hosts a well attendedtown-wide annual pancake supper on the eve of Lent and often provides refreshments for special occasions at the church, as well.

Roxbury, Connecticut is a town of rare beauty – hills and open meadows, farms and long vistas. Specimen trees grow along the winding country roads. The rural atmosphere belies the sophisticated people who live here.

Roxbury is populated by authors, actors, artists, farmers and business people forming a diverse cultural mix. The region’s schools are top notch. Minor Library is exceptional and an active Senior Center offers a multitude of programs to residents of all ages. The Roxbury Land Trust controls 3,000 acres dedicated to preserving the rural quality of the town. Roxbury is easily accessible to all the major centers in Connecticut as well as New York City.

Christ Church, located at a crossroad in the town center, is a gem. Carpenter Gothic with fine stained glass windows,a bell tower, and a first class organ. Once inside, the atmosphere is quiet, spiritual - a place for refl ection. It enfolds a parish of friends with the celebration of the Eucharist at our center, enhanced by music, preaching and prayer. We welcome and encourage each member- young and old - to share their individual gifts.

Christian Education, Christ Church prides itself on its innovative, vibrant, child focused approach to Christian Education. Utilizing the Episcopal Children’s Curriculum as a base, our Director of Children’s Ministries, employs storytelling and youth feedback. The use of diverse materials, shared through the National Association of Christian Education Directors, as well as exposure to the Millennium Goals, allows for a program that combines the traditional with the current. Our yearly focus on Advent and Lent not only exposes our youth to the traditions behind our church calendar, but explore such topics as world religions and ways to promote peace.

We have a weekly Bible Study led by a parishioner, a graduate of Union Theological Seminary. It requires no advance reading, but welcomes free wheeling discussion. It is enthusiastically attended and provides a wonderful opportunity for spiritual growth. Combined with our Adult Forum and weekly Bible studies, Christ Church provides an educational program that cultivates and promotes personal development and exploration.
